Built like a rock formation rising from the sea, "Under" measures 34 meters in length, the back of which is located at a depth of 5.5 meters below sea level. From the outside, it looks like a rock fallen in the sea, but inside, it has a large window so diners can see the sea-life as they enjoy their meals and get a great experience of watching the sea. The big window exposes the underwater, not like an aquarium, but like the real scene. The walls of this building are slightly curved and half a meter thick, providing optimal resistance against the forces of waves and water pressure. The restaurant was designed by Norwegian award-winning architect firm Snøhetta. The idea for the restaurant was created by entrepreneur-brothers Stig and Gaute Ubostad. The total price for the project was 70 million Norwegian kroner, equal to around 8.5 million USD.
