Nature has created many fascinating places around the world that provide very gorgeous and incredible views, and which are responsible for catching everyone's attention and one of these amazing gifts of nature is the Green Lake park of Austria. Of course, this is a unique park in the world where people usually come to play, relax and spend free time but there is also a time when the park is completely submerged in water and then people come here for enjoying scuba diving instead of walking. It is a particular favorite site for hikers. Gruner See, literally “Green Lake”, is located in the Hochschwab mountains of Styria, near the village of Tragoess. The name "Green Lake" originated because of its emerald-green water. This park has a small lake, in summer when the snow on the mountains melts, the water in the lake increases a lot due to which the whole area of the park gets submerged. During winter, the lake is only 1-2 meters deep and the surrounding area is used as a county park. But as the temperature starts rising in spring and snow melts, the basin of land below the mountains fills with water, and during this time especially from mid-May to June, the lake reaches its maximum depth of around 12 m and seems to appear the most beautiful. But in July, the lake begins to recede and by winter, the lake is back to its original size. Although, this park is similar to a normal park that has many trees, sitting benches, and pathways but when you see it after submerging in water, it looks like a wonderful art.

The lake has clean and clear water that comes from the fresh snow melt from the mountains and has a temperature of 4 to 8 °C, but still, it is popular among divers because the lake is extremely stunning to experience from the surface. While exploring underwater you can see walking trails and trees, and you can also see a bridge and benches underwater. The alpine grasses and flowers of the meadow are visible in full bloom under the water. The lake also has a variety of fauna such as water fleas, snails, fly larvae, small crabs, and various species of trout (Salmo). The depth of the lake is variable because its water source is only the melting of fallen snow. But since 2016, all the watersports activities here have been prohibited which means no diving, swimming, or boats allowed in the waters of Green Lake. This decision was taken after consultation with experts, as the increase in tourists visit here could further damage this sensitive environment.
