There has been a famous controversy regarding the Taj Mahal that there is a Shiva temple under the Taj Mahal and Shah Jahan seized this land and built the Taj there. Now how much truth is there in this matter, let's try to understand it. First of all, let's have a brief look at the story of the Taj Mahal what the history says behind.
In 1212 AD, Raja Paramardi Dev built a temple palace named Tejo Mahalaya, and later, this temple was inherited by Raja Maan Singh. But after him, the property was held and managed by Raja Jai Singh where he himself lived, that is, this property was used as a haveli. Then in 1632, Shah Jahan acquired this property from Raja Jai Singh, in return for which he also gave four big havelis to him, and after that Shah Jahan erected the Taj Mahal here in memory of his wife. To build this entire monument 20,000 workers were employed, who were brought from the very distant areas. But the shocking thing was that such a magnificent monument was erected on a wooden base and it took 17 years to build. This incredible artistic structure was built with a lot of hard work and love, which is why the Taj Mahal is considered a symbol of love. But perhaps after hearing some controversial things, people have started targeting the Taj Mahal's identity.

The Taj Mahal was a Shiva temple earlier, this has become famous in the 1989 book titled "Taj Mahal: The True Story". The writer of this book was "P. N. Oak" who was an Indian historian. He liked to read about history, but probably he used to write history in his own way. As he claims that "Christianity is Chrisn-nity" and "Christianity and Islam are both derivatives of Hinduism" and with this logic, he wrote in his book that "Taj Mahal is a corrupt version of Tejo Mahalaya (Lord Shiva's Palace). As Shah Jahan seized it and built the Taj Mahal there.

To prove his theory, "P. N. Oak" had even gone to court, but the Supreme Court dismissed his petition. P. N. Oak passed away in 2007, but his theory spread across the country through social media. People raised many voices on this, and cases were also filed in court. A lot of debates were happening on the news channels, but the government could not find any evidence of the temple being here, because if it was so, it would have been mentioned in some autobiography, some journal, or some historical record. But nothing was found.
Later, another theory surfaced and the question was raised that there are 22 doors in the basement of the Taj Mahal and they have always been kept sealed. Do they contain idols of Hindu Gods, many debates took place on this matter as well. After that, doubts were being raised about ASI i.e., Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), on which, the ASI revealed that these closed rooms are not really rooms, but rather a long arched corridor along which doors were fixed so the space could be utilized better. There are no unusual things on these doors, which people should see, so why unnecessarily crowd there, so they are kept sealed?

Even after these revelations, the debates on these theories did not end, after which the ASI itself released pictures of what is inside these closed doors on its official website. Now it has been proved that there are no Shiva idols under the Taj Mahal, nor has such evidence been found there to prove that there was a temple there. The Taj Mahal is a magnificent beauty and it will always be among the most historical monuments of the world and will forever be the pride of India.
