Who doesn't love to see snowfall? Falling snow from the sky in the midst of valleys is a great experience to watch, which gives someone the best memorable moments of their life. It is one of the most golden and unforgettable moments of every person. In addition, you might have noticed that the snowfall in severely cold regions often makes many kinds of snowy figures on the ground, which look very strange and remarkable in appearance. But these figures are formed from very rare phenomena, two of them are named Frost Flower and Snow Roller.
Frost Flower
This beautiful icy flower is called Frost Flower, but it is not a real flower blooming on a plant, but a small sample of nature's magical ability. However, like the rest of the real flowers, it is also dependent on the weather, that is, the formation of Frost Flower in nature depends on some conditions. Firstly, there should be a freezing season, which means the temperature should be freezing or below freezing, the second condition is there should be moisture in the ground, and thirdly the plant's stem should not be already frozen. When the atmosphere is very cold (freezing air temperature) and the soil is moist or wet but not frozen, then the fluid (sap) in the stem of the plant begins to expand (water expands when frozen).
While freezing, they become so hard that small cracks start forming along the length of the stem and when the water is drawn through these cracks, it starts freezing as soon as it comes in contact with the cold environment outside. As a result, very thin ribbons of ice appear in no time, and as the plant draws moisture from the ground, little by little the water seeps out again through the cracks and freezes layer by layer with the already frozen water. And this is how the "Frost flower" is prepared gradually. Furthermore, you can sometimes see some similar Frost Flowers on the surface of the sea, but the scientific reason behind their formation is slightly different.
Snow Roller
"Snow rollers" are one of the wonderful phenomena of nature, but they can be formed only in certain weather conditions. For snow rollers to form, the temperature must first be 2-4 degrees above the freezing point so that the ice can melt a little. Then chunks of crumbly, wet, and slightly sticky snow are needed. After this, there should be either hard snow under this, or a thin surface layer of wet snow that will not stick. And now the wind should blow, but neither too fast nor too slow, just enough to start forming a snow roller. Now as snow rolls, the upper layer starts picking up further snow along the way taking a form of so large that it can even be pushed.
The donut or swiss roll-like these snow rollers can also be formed from factors other than wind, such as the slope of a mountaintop or snow falling from a tree can also help in their formation, where they take their form just because of gravity. These snow rollers are formed in polar regions, but the perfect conditions that make them are rare in themselves, so they are also rarely seen. However, these lovely snow rollers can sometimes be dangerous and can even accidentally kill someone.
