The name Shanay-Timpishka generally means "water boiled by the heat of the sun". Scientists also call it a thermal river as the source of the heat is actually geothermal. Whatever creature fell into this river, it never survived and how could it survive because its temperature is up to 100 degrees Celsius, which will boil even a human being in minutes. According to scientists, it is impossible to have such a boiling river because there can be only one reason for a river to boil so much and that is the presence of an active volcano in the vicinity of the river. But the interesting thing is, the nearest active volcano to this river is at a distance 700 km away, so scientists have not been able to find out the actual cause for its boiling ability. In such a situation, the activities inside the earth are considered responsible for this. Although this is just a guess, now scientists are trying to get deeper into it.

Around the river "Shanay-Timpishka" is the settlement of the Ashaninka tribe of Peru, who consider it a sacred river and call it Mayantuyacu in the local language. The river was discovered by geologist Andrés Ruzo in the year 2011. According to Andrés", if someone immersed his hand in river water for less than half a second, a third-degree burn can occur on the hand. Therefore, if anyone falls accidentally into this boiling water river, his death is almost certain. Andrés saw several animals falling and boiling in the river right in front of him. He has also written a book about this river called "The Boiling River: Adventure and Discovery in the Amazon". Unaware people from this area are more at risk of becoming victims of accidents, yet some people step into the area to witness this unique feature of the boiling river and the unique sight of nature.

Currently, the Boiling River Project is being carried out to understand the nature of this river, to which the tribal community living nearby has also been connected. Under this, tourists are asked not to throw anything in the river or cause any harm under any circumstances. And can't even think of swimming.
