The island is such a landmark that is surrounded by water on all sides. Well, some of the islands are extremely alluring, impressing us a lot with their beauty, while some of the islands are quite the opposite, considered to be quite mysterious and paranormal. One such mysterious and supernatural island is named "Hy-Brasil". According to claims, the island appears clouded in mist except for one day every seven years. But when it becomes visible, it still cannot be reached.
Hy-Brasil is the most mysterious mythic city ever known as it is believed to be located on a phantom island off the west coast of Ireland, which appears for only one day every seven years. But no one has been able to reach this island till date. Hy-Brasil has been seen by only a few people so far and according to them, the island was located in the North Atlantic Ocean, roughly 321 km off the west coast of Ireland. They also claimed the island always remained covered in fog. The Hy-Brasil was shown on several ancient maps from 1325 to the 1800s, but it was first mentioned on the map by the Italian cartographer "AngelĂ Dolcet" in the year 1325. The island was shown as being circular on maps.

The first attempt to visit the island was made in 1480 by John Jay Jr. He departed from Bristol, England, but never reached the island and had to return empty-handed after spending two months at sea. In 1497, several years after AngelĂ Dolcet's map was published, a man named "John Cabot" claimed to have discovered Hy-Brasil. But when the researchers started to know the truth of his words, they could not find anything in that area. In 1674, another incident related to this island came to the public when the sea explorer "Captain John Nisbet" claimed that he had visited Hy-Brasil. He revealed that when he set out on a journey from France to Ireland with his crew members, they suddenly saw an island emerging from the ocean, which was very futuristic in appearance.
According to Nisbet, when they reached the island, there they met a wise old man who provided them with gold and silver coins. Not only this, the captain said, there were no humans living on that island, rather the island was inhabited by large black rabbits and a mysterious magician who lived alone in a stone castle. Well, according to some present-time researchers, Captain John Nisbet's statement was just a story, the possibility of which is negligible to be true.
Well, this was not the end of Hy-Brasil sightings as in 1872, a person named "T.J. Westropp" claimed that he and his family had visited Hy-Brasil Island. According to "T.J. Westropp" when he and his family were out for a voyage, they saw a mysterious island appearing out of nowhere in the ocean at the time of sunset, covered completely in the fog. This strange experience of Westropp was not an illusion for him, because apart from him, his family members had also witnessed this incident.
