The story begins in the year 1916 when a girl named Lucia dos Santos shepherded the flock with her two cousins around a hill near Cova da Iria in Fatima. They were the inhabitants of Portugal. Leaving the sheep to graze, the three children usually played comfortably. But these days some such incidents happened with the children, which changed the lives of not only them but also of Christians around the world.
In the spring season, the children were playing as usual when suddenly a thunderstorm started and they suddenly saw a bright light appearing in the sky, which gradually transformed into the shape of a human. He came closer to the children and said, he is the Angel of Peace and they need not be afraid. He taught them to pray and disappeared. After a few days, he appeared again and advised the children to be spiritual. He even revealed to them he is the Guardian Angel of Portugal. The next month he appeared before them the third time, this time he gifted the children a chalice that was filled with blood. He asked the children to repeat a particular prayer thrice and told them to Eat and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
A few months later, in 1917, the children were playing together in the same way, when a lady wearing a white gown appeared in front of them. This glowing lady, full of divine light was very beautiful, who told the children that she had come from heaven. She had visited five times before meeting the children for the last time. During her last visit on 13 October 1917, the Divine Lady told, She is Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima. About 50 to 70 thousand people had witnessed this event. It is believed that suddenly the sun appeared amidst the rain from which multicolored light was emitting. It sets in front of the people and immediately rose back and reached its place. People from miles around saw this miraculous phenomenon of the sun and named it the "Miracle of the Sun", also known as the "Miracle of Fatima". This event was captured by many people on cameras, including reporters and photographers, gathered at Cova da Iria.
