There are many stories and anecdotes associated with almost every religion of the world, in which many sacred things are mentioned, about which the followers of that religion are quite devoted. One such religious legend is of "The Holy Grail", a cup that has the power to heal all wounds, deliver eternal youth, and grant everlasting happiness. The holy grail is considered to be a cup in which drinking water eliminates all diseases and using it from time to time can make the body immortal. Not only this, but a person can also become instantly enlightened by its water.
You must have heard the mention of "The Last Supper" in the stories related to Christianity. It is said that the day before the crucifixion when Jesus was having his final meal with his disciples, that feast is known as "The Last Supper". The cup that Jesus used during that Last Supper is considered as the "Holy Grail", which until then was an ordinary cup. After the crucifixion, Joseph collected the blood of Jesus in the same cup, as a result of which miraculous powers emerged into that cup.
Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy tin merchant who often traveled by boat in search of metals. After Christ’s crucifixion, Joseph took the Holy Grail with him, and it is believed that Joseph hid the holy grail somewhere in Glastonbury. Since then, people around the world have searched for this Holy Grail.
According to legend, Joseph got off his boat at Glastonbury and prayed to God to show him a safe place where he could hide the Holy Grail. Then he saw a hawthorn bush located on a small hill nearby, which is still called the Holy Hawthorn Bush. It is not exactly known where Joseph hid the Holy Grail, but some strange happenings in the area of Glastonbury suggest that the Holy Grail is somewhere nearby. This holy bush flowers only on Christmas and Easter unlike any other bush in the country. Every year in December, a part of this bush is plucked and sent to the queen to be used as decoration for the Christmas breakfast table.
Inside this hill, there is an underground system through which water flows, and people study this system and try to find out where that holy grail might be. Some people believe that the holy grail is hidden inside a nearby Chalice well as the water coming out of this well is red in color, which they considered as it became reddened with the blood of Jesus. The Chalice Well is also known as the Red Spring. Another specialty of this place is that physical and spiritual healing also takes place here, for which about 5,00,000 people visit this well every year.
