As we know most of the earth's surface is water, and from ancient to modern civilizations, humans have often been close to water sources as water is quite essential for our life. But in myths and legends, there are mentions of various tales involving mysterious rivers and lakes. Even our folklores pointed toward the countless mystical stories associated with the incidents occurring nearer to the water. As somewhere there are tales of possession of ghosts on a lake, and somewhere about mysterious creatures living inside the lakes, and even somewhere hidden treasures and secret tunnels going inside the earth. Through today's article, we will learn about one such mysterious lake, named Lake Erie.
Located on the border of Pennsylvania and Ohio, Lake Erie is quite mysterious, as there is an old legend resist here, named Storm Hag. It is believed that this old spirit resides in the depths of the lake, whose dazzlingly bright yellow eyes glow in the dark, with matted hair and sickly pale green skin. Her long pointed nails at the end of her long bony fingers are enough to put someone into a deep sleep. She attacks the unwary visitors and ships during the storm, but before she attacks someone, she sings a song as a warning or to lure her victims.
"Come into the water, love, Dance beneath the waves, Where dwell the bones of sailor-lads, Inside my saffron cave".
After the song ends, the storm subsides, but soon after this silence she comes out of the water and drags the victim to the depths of the lake forever, never to be seen again. According to people, "Storm Hag" has also drowned many ships in the same way, considering them as a tiny toys in the bathtub. Earlier she was also seen in the form of a mermaid who used her beauty to carry people into the deep water, after which they never returned to the surface again.
