There are many tales of an evil entity named "owl witch" in the folklore of Mexico and Texas. This legend arose centuries ago when in a small town in Mexico lived a woman who looked like an ordinary person from the outside but from inside she always had a desire to possess supernatural and magical powers. She was an expert in black magic, due to which she always headed to the forest alone to remain engaged in various dark rituals in a quest to attain great magical powers. It is believed that she sold her soul to the devil and received many powers in return. But soon townsfolk came to know about her devil’s practices, leaving them unhappy and filled with rage, as a result of which they brutally murdered her.

But in spite of all this, her soul did not give up, and to enact her revenge, she returned in the form of a giant owl, whose face was that of a woman and the body of a huge owl. She is 7 feet tall and has a wingspan of 15 feet. Legend says that she is a shapeshifter who can appear as an ordinary witch during the day and remains active at night by transforming herself into a giant bird (owl) with the face of a woman. The sound of her crying is heard like the sound of a baby’s cry or whistles. Once she finds her target she disguises her voice as she uses this voice to pull people toward her and make them her meal by swooping them away forever. According to the people, if you ever hear her voice, then it is a sign that someone's life is going to be lost soon. Not only this, just the glimpse of this entity in the dream brings the message of death.

She usually preys on drunkards and children, as it is easy enough for her to do so. In the 90s, a nine-year-old boy living in a Mexican town claimed to see the owl witch, said that she came in the form of a big owl and sat outside and stared right at him for a long time. But as soon as his father arrived home, she flew away.
