The Holy Trinity Church, located in Buckfastleigh town in Devon, England, looks quite creepy and abandoned. This church was active until about the 13th century and prayers were offered here, but now it is a deserted building. In the summer of 1992, a huge fire was broken out here, destroying every part of the entire church, and turning it into ruins. But despite this, its huge and scary bell just escaped from being destroyed even by that massive fiercely blaze and was reinstalled in the church again. Even today the sound of this bell is heard reverberating throughout the valley.
Somewhere, this church also seems haunted in appearance, but in reality, it is not, in fact, the graveyard of this church is the reason for the fear of this town. Here we can see a strange structure which is actually a tomb that has been locked by strong metal bars. This tomb is of a mysterious evil person, whose name was Richard Cabell. He was the most wealthy man (a squire) in the town, who was considered monstrously evil by the people of the town because of his immoral and wicked behavior. His ferocity can be clearly seen in his great passion for hunting. Also, he used to beat his wife repeatedly and abuse her a lot, but one night she ran away from home.

Cabell angrily went searching for her and soon he found her, as a result of which he murdered her on the spot. At the same time, he also killed the dog who was protecting the woman till her death. But Cabell escaped from punishment. According to the townspeople, Cabell had sold his soul to Satan and made a deal with him so that he could escape judgment and punishment. After a few days, the people of the town learned that Cabell had been possessed by the spirit of that dog. He remained in the same condition till the year 1677 and then passed away. On the night of his burial, some people even saw a pack of phantom hounds or ghost dogs baying at his tomb, seeming like they wanted to take his soul with them to hell.

Some even noticed his soul being released out of the tomb and was roaming in the nearby swamp leading those ghost hounds and was moving ahead after ripping off every unlucky animal that came in the way. After that night it is believed that every year on the same night, Cabell's spirit wanders around the surrounding area near his tomb. The locals felt that they could never be safe from this spirit, so they pressed down Cabell's tomb by placing a gigantic white slab on top of it and sealed the entire area with heavy metal bars. But still, some people claimed to see a strange red glow emanating through the metal bars. Several legends also state that on stormy nights, a pack of ghostly hounds come near Cabell's tomb, making it easier for his spirit to come out and roamed the entire area.
