Like every vital part of our body, the teeth also have a special importance and role as these teeth help us in chewing and eating our favorite food. Also, the teeth that help in speaking are quite necessary for smiling as well. But have you ever thought about why the color of our teeth is naturally white, why is there no other color?
Well, this happens because of enamel, as our teeth have different layers, and the outer layer, called enamel, contains a component of calcium, which tends to be white in color. In fact, this layer protects the teeth and is considered the hard calcified tissue or the hardest tissue in the human body, but small pieces of it cannot be repaired after cracking because the enamel is made up of dead cells or contains no living cells. If the enamel is weak, the process of tooth weakening can start, so it is important to take special care of this protective layer of the teeth to keep it thick and healthy.

Lies just underneath the enamel, there is another hard dense bony tissue that forms up the bulk of the teeth, called the dentin layer, which appears yellowish in color. If the white enamel thins over time, more of the yellow teeth will begin to appear from underneath revealing the dentin layer, making the teeth appear less white overall. So what comes to the conclusion is that this calcium-rich enamel is responsible for giving out teeth a white appearance, and of course, this is the only reason at work behind our teeth whitening ability. As stronger our enamel is, the whiter our teeth will appear.
However, the whiteness of the enamel doesn't always remain in our control as sometimes it gets out of our control. As sometimes you might have noticed that a few people come up in this world with whiter, thicker enamel, which made them blessed with good-looking teeth since childhood. But this does not mean at all that they are born with healthy teeth, as it could just be genetics.

Now many people think that if teeth are not white they are unhealthy, but this is not true, even slightly yellow-colored or off-white teeth are accepted as healthy, just their enamel is thin. But if a sticky film of bacteria called Plaque, constantly forms on teeth more often than necessary, then those teeth are considered to be unhealthy, as it can destroy tooth enamel and cause cavities and gum disease.
