There is such a mysterious place in Romania that is quite ancient and historical and is probably one of the biggest mysteries of Romania. Deep inside the forest of the Carpathian Mountain range of Transylvania, there exists a mysterious cave, known as the Cioclovina Cave. In this cave, several ancient tombs, mystifying Scandinavian and Mesopotamian treasures, human skeleton remains, and sculptures of Nymphs have been found. Archeologists believe this site might be renowned for a subterranean temple to nymphs in ancient times dating around 3,300 years ago, as many exotic offerings were found here, including women's bronze and glass jewelry and various valuables and precious items. According to the beliefs, there was not only a temple of nymphs here, but the real nymphs also used to reside here, who were called naiads.

The Naiads are believed to be nymphs who were naturally very beautiful young maidens who live near lakes, streams, and fountains and inside the forest in this region. It is said that people passing through here first used to make offerings to nymphs in this temple and then set out on their journey. In Romania, nymphs are considered both good and bad, depending on their nature. In earlier times their worship was mandatory, and it was believed that the water present near the abode of nymphs had magical properties that could heal any disease. And in similar water bodies, animals were also sacrificed for nymphs. Seeing a nymph alone was sometimes also considered dangerous, as such people were often attracted to a nymph and followed her into the woods, where they would sometimes die by drowning in water and sometimes lost their way to death.

Talking about good-natured nymphs, many naiads were also wives of kings and hold a prominent place in the royal genealogies. It is believed that the children born to them have been very attractive and powerful in history, for example, the daughters of River Asopos were very beautiful and powerful. The demigods liked them very much and their names were often given to many towns, cities, and islands. Also, they were certainly supposed to be goddess-protectors of the main water supply of that settlement as they looked after the spring, fountain, or well so that people would not get sick from the water. Similar nymphs used to live near Cioclovina Cave as well. It is said that a nymph named Anigrides lived near this spring, the mere touch of whose water had become so miraculous that any disease could be cured with its help, and drinking water charged by another nymph provided poetic inspiration.
