Would you imagine that a city floating on water powered by renewable energy could tackle the problem as the water rises in the ocean? The rising water levels around the world have been a cause of concern to humans as repeated flooding of coastal cities causes extensive property damage. A floating city may seem like the idea of a science-fiction movie, but in a few days, it will be in front of the world as a reality.
The idea of such a city has been introduced by the American company Oceanix. The entire city will rest on several interconnected floating platforms near Busan, South Korea. Initially, houses will be built for 12,000 people and electricity will be generated from solar panels installed on the roofs. The estimated cost of the development of this floating city is $200m, which will be ready by 2025. The city will be built on a very beautiful blue lagoon with many bridges. The base of the city will be several platforms that will be interconnected from the inside and together will form a city with a total area of 15.5 acres.

According to the builders of the project, by building this floating city, we want to demonstrate that floating infrastructure can create new ground for coastal cities. As two out of every five people in the world live within 100 km of a coastline, and every year millions of people are forced to leave their homes due to floods. Our aim is to help the people living in the coastal areas whose existence is threatened by rising sea levels.

The models of floating cities look beautiful, but still some people believe that instead of spending this much money on the city, it should be spent on preventing the sea-level rise.
