Many such rare creatures are found in the world, which generally draws our attention. Among the 5000 crore species of birds found on the earth, one such rare bird is famous across the world for its unique feature. The specialty of this bird is that no matter how thirsty this bird may be, but does not drink water. The surprising thing is that this bird will continue to suffer from thirst, but would not prefer to drink water from any river or pond. Now you must be thinking that water is necessary for everyone, but despite this, if this bird does not drink water, then how does it stay alive?
It's not that it doesn't drink water at all, it does drink water, but of a very certain kind, which we know as rainwater. The name of this bird is Chatak which is also called Jacobin cuckoo in English and is considered the only unique creature on Earth for having this distinct feature. No matter how thirsty this bird might be, it never drinks the water of any other kind, not even the collected rainwater. It always waits for the rain to quench its thirst, as it only drinks rainwater drops when it pours.

It is said that even if a thirsty Chatak is thrown into a lake full of clean water, it does not open its mouth, as it will close its beak so that the water of the lake cannot enter its mouth. From this, you must have understood how self-respecting this bird is in this matter. The Jacobin bird is found only in the continent of Asia and Africa, and in India, it is found mainly in Uttarakhand. A unique thing about Chatak is that they lay their eggs in the nests of other birds and sometimes even drive other birds out of their nests.

These birds are insectivorous i.e. they eat Locust Beetles but have also been seen eating fruits and berries many times. They also indicate the arrival of the monsoon. In most parts of North India, these birds reach before the monsoon, and sometimes also reach the places where the monsoon knocks before its time.
