Why are thousands of luxury supercars standing in the middle of Dubai's desert and rotting there? Most countries are busy battling crime and lack of natural resources, yet Dubai is dealing with the luxury cars abandonment epidemic. Dubai has so many luxery cars that have been left behind every year, which has grabbed international headlines all over the world. In fact, if you ever go to Dubai, you will find thousands of luxury cars standing there in the deserts collecting dust, like BMW, Lamborghinis, Nissan Skylines, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Bentleys, Honda NSX, and even a limited edition Ferrari Enzo. But why these cars are abandoned like this and who are the owners of these cars?
There are about 2,000 to 3,000 cars abandoned each and every year in Dubai and the reason why they are abandoned might shock you. Actually, these cars belong to outsiders, who come to Dubai and start earning a lot of money and buy such expensive vehicles. But if for some reason they lose their jobs and drown in debt, then they have to leave their luxurious cars there, which the government there throws these cars in the desert to rot. Any owner whose car is dumped here is given a few days' time to pay off all his debts and get his car back. But if they are not able to do so, then either those cars are auctioned or left to rot like this. Some cars are even placed nicely underneath the shaded area but others are dumped in the hot sun, resulting in discoloration of the paint and rusting of the car. Sometimes the old damaged cars are even removed so that they can make space for some more cars.

The strangest thing is that the people working in Dubai know what the law is, but still, they buy luxury cars and when they go bankrupt, they have to leave everything and flee the country to avoid imprisonment. Once they are out of the country, they are no longer liable to pay for the car, as the government no longer has the right to prosecute them. Another reason could be that people in Dubai have a lot of money, due to which they leave their old car like this and buy a new car, as they don't have enough time to do the paperwork to sell their old car.
