Although sunlight has been considered essential for humans and all the creatures on the earth to flourish, but sometimes this thing can even turn out to be a curse for someone. Everyone knows that the ultraviolet rays of the sun can cause a lot of damage to our skin, but to what extent these rays can harm our skin, let's try to gain this information through this article by taking an example of a particular place. We are talking about such a place where people do not allow sunlight to fall on their faces because even a single ray of sun puts their face in a very miserable condition. In such a situation, the only option left with them is to leave the house at night to get the necessary items.
The whole matter we are talking about here is from the small Brazilian village of Araras. Now you must be thinking that how sunlight can spoil someone's face, so let us tell you that the people here are victims of such a rare inherited skin disease known as xeroderma pigmentosum. In this disease, the skin gets burnt due to sunlight. This disease occurs in only 3 percent of the millions of people, but when this disease progresses too much, it can even take the form of skin cancer. When the sun's rays fall on the skin, the face becomes red and dry and starts looking ugly. The nose, lips, cheeks, and eyes of most of the people living there get spoiled. Most of the people in Araras are from the farming community, so people have no other option but to work in the sun, as a result of which people's lives are getting difficult due to this dreadful skin disease.
People exposed to ultraviolet rays were even tested, which showed that there is some deficiency in their genes, due to which, they get to suffer through such a condition when exposed to the sun's rays. Some people even consider it as a punishment given by God. Around 800 people live in this village, where more than half, that is, 600 people are such whose faces have been badly scorched due to exposure to sunlight. For people suffering from this disease, stepping out of the house during the day is like a punishment, so they leave the house only at night to get the necessary items. They tried a lot to get rid of this disease but they failed in it. However, now people are being made aware in the village to avoid this disease and children are being told about its initial symptoms, as well as being advised to go out in the sun to a minimum.
