Minotaur, we might have seen this creature in movies and video games, which used to be half-bull and half-human and had amazing physical strength. The story of his origin in Greek mythology is also very interesting, it is a matter of ancient times, there was a kingdom named Crete on an island. This kingdom was very prosperous due to being situated in the middle of the trading route. There was a king named Minos, whose queen Pasiphae was very beautiful. Minos already had the favor of the gods of the sea, but once he went to the Greek god Poseidon and said, he needs a bull which he wants to sacrifice to the gods of the sea, so that in the future also the blessings of the sea gods would remain on him and his kingdom.
Hearing his prayer, Poseidon created a snow-white majestic bull and sent it to the Minos, this bull was magical in appearance whose size was also much bigger than other bulls. Now stunned by the bull's beauty, Minos was smitten with greed and decided to keep it alive instead of sacrificing it. As a result, he sacrificed an ordinary bull to the sea gods. When Poseidon came to know about his deceitful act, he got very angry, as a result of which he made that bull so violent that he started causing havoc in the whole kingdom. Poseidon's anger still did not subside, he called the goddess Aphrodite and asked her for help.
Aphrodite controlled the mind of Minos' wife Pasiphae and filled her with lust. At the same time, Aphrodite attracted her towards that bull. Now Pasiphae fell in love with the bull, as a result of which there build up a sexual relationship between these two, and the offspring of both of them became minotaur. This child was half bull and half-human. Pasiphae raised the Minotaur, but when he grew up, he also got the qualities of that bull, as it also became quite violent. Now to make this problem solve, Minos has created a Labyrinth, a maze-like construction. That is, by building a labyrinth, the minotaur was imprisoned inside it. Minotaur had no natural source of nourishment, therefore, humans were sent inside the Labyrinth to become its food. This process continued like this, but people were afraid to even go near that Labyrinth.
Now Androgeus, the son of Minos, reached the kingdom of Athens for the Panathenaic Games, where he had been killed by the Athenians, who were jealous of the victories he had won at the Panathenaic festival. It is said that after this incident, the plague started spreading there and Minos blamed the king of Athens for all this happening. For paying the penalties of killing Androgeus, Minos demanded seven Athenian youths and seven maidens every year, who were to be sent inside the labyrinth to be devoured by the Minotaur.
Many People were sent from Athens for two years and they all died. That's when the greek hero Theseus joined that group for the third year and decided to go inside Labyrinth and kill the Minotaur. Theseus arrived in Crete with six men with him. In Crete, Minos' daughter Ariadne fell madly in love with Theseus. Love was born between these two, and she called Theseus alone and showed the way out of that labyrinth. Now Theseus went inside the Labyrinth along with their companions and killed the Minotaur. After this, Theseus left Crete with princess Ariadne and reached Athens.
