Do you know there is a clock named "Clock of the Long Now" which Jeff Bezos and a millionaire scientist friend are building in Sierra Diablo Mountain Range, West Texas? Jeff Bezos owns a whole mountain in West Texas and in that, this massive project is being completed. Yes, you heard it right, Jeff Bezos is making his dream project by owning a complete mountain. And this is literally a massive mechanical clock, in which it was planned that the clock would last for 10,000 years and it is being made in such a way that it will tell absolutely the accurate time for 10,000 years in the future. Bezos is said to have spent US$42 million building it.
Most of the clocks kept in your homes usually become inaccurate along with the time, as the clocks which are a few years old, about 4-5 years or earlier, start telling the wrong time every day with a slight difference of one or two minutes. That is, if your clock goes forward or backward in time by a minute or two in a few years, it does not seem too bad to hear. But in the clock which has been planned for 10,000 years, if the time is shown with a difference of 1-2 hours or even a day, then it will be very inaccurate which is technically a very high fault.
But this clock is being made in such a way that every second can be shown accurately and after 10,000 years if a tourist visits there, then he should be shown the correct time. For this, this clock uses solar correction, meaning it syncs itself by observing the position of the sun, which makes it one of the weirdest projects in the world, which is still under construction. This clock shows a vision and teaches us that we should plan for life even in the long term.
Another fact about clocks is that there is a clock named Salisbury Cathedral clock, the earliest type of mechanical clock which is believed to be from around 1385 and is officially said to be the oldest working clock in the world. According to the Guinness Book of World Records too, it is the oldest working clock in the world. This clock of 1385 worked perfectly for many years but due to some reasons it had to be restored to working condition again in 1956 and since then it is still working fine.
