In today's time, who does not know about ATM (Automated Teller Machine), which has made everyone's life quite easy, so that they do not have to waste much time visiting the bank. It is such an automated electronic banking machine in which if a customer uses his ATM card and provides all the correct information, he can withdraw and send money from his bank account very easily. It can be used only by bank customers for any account-related transaction.
If we try to go back in the history of ATM, we will find that the first generation of modern ATM was used by Barclays Bank in its Enfield Town branch in North London, United Kingdom on 27 June 1967, and its invention is attributed to John Shepherd-Barron. Earlier in the 1960s, the ATM was known by the name Bankograph. Since the early days of the machine, John Barron was in favor of changing the ATM PIN to 6 digits, but his wife urged him to keep 4 digits because 6 digits were too many to remember. For this reason, later he made a four-digit ATM PIN and even today only four-digit PIN is in circulation.
The ATM facility in India was introduced in 1987 and the first ATM in India was installed by Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in Andheri East, Mumbai. After the invention of the ATM, one does not have to depend on the bank employee. But when the idea of an ATM came into the mind of its inventor, he had to face many difficulties. Because during that time, the banks considered the transaction of money as a very sensitive matter and they did not accept to leave money matters in the hands of any machine, as this was a huge risk, so no bank was willing to use it. But later it was approved for use.
Is the ATM Cash Counting Sound Fake?
Often when we need money, we go to the ATM and while withdrawing the money, the machine releases a Cash-Dispensing sound which makes us feel that the machine is actually counting the cash. But it doesn't happen at all, actually, that sound is not meant to count the cash but just artificially generated. Yes, you are hearing it right, the ATM cash counting sound is fake. Actually, ATM performs the whole process of withdrawing money very smoothly but the sound you hear during this process comes from somewhere else and has no link with it. In fact, that sound is emanating from a small speaker attached to the ATM machine so that you can be satisfied that your money is about to come out.
