This is considered to be one of the main reasons but there are many other reasons responsible for this, the second reason is the workload after becoming a doctor. Doctors have to write a lot of prescriptions and within an hour they have to examine about 30 to 40 patients waiting outside their clinics. Along with it, there is a lot of time pressure on them and how much detail they have to write in the documents, they have to write a lot such as discharge summaries, x-ray slips, referral forms, drug charts, which means their writing work is too much. Now this question must be arising in your mind that if the doctors handwriting is not easy to understand then how the guys of the medical store could understand their handwriting so easily. Many believe that they have quite a good experience with the doctors' handwriting, this is true, but the main thing is that while looking at the patient's medical prescription, they usually guess that it will be the medicine for this disease. If you go and tell them that I have a cough problem, then if the first letter in the medicine's name is the same as what they give to other people during cough. Then seeing the first and last letter in the medicine's name, they understand that the first letter is this and the last letter is this and if the disease is this then the medicine will also be the same.
So usually they guess and because of this guessing, you must know that every year thousands of people die after taking the wrong medicine only because of doctors' bad handwriting. The Medical Council of India once mandated that doctors must write prescriptions legibly and in capital letters. But no doctor accepts this because there is no fine or penalty on this law, it is kind of optional. But it should be, that means the thousands of people who die in a year, at least the lives of those will be safe.

Now comes a point, the mindset of doctors, this will sound very deep to you, but in today's time, only doctors with bad handwriting have been considered as professionally trained doctors. Meaning even if a doctor's handwriting is good, then because people do not consider him a noob after seeing his handwriting, he also starts spoiling his handwriting. Intentionally he makes his handwriting sloppy. You must be feeling strange to hear this fact, but this is spreading in the world nowadays. Many doctors do not improve their handwriting to save their business and are maintaining this sloppy handwriting practice. But this should not happen because many people die due to this carelessness, so keeping this in mind, they should rectify their mistake.
