Have you ever enjoyed snowfall at a hill station and if you did, then surely that day must have been the best day of your life. And after visiting such a place how can one stay there without clicking the pictures and after clicking pictures, you must also have uploaded them on social media by using many hashtags.
By the way, if you have not experienced all this, then you must have definitely thought about visiting such places right after seeing a beautiful natural photo of a snowy area. But sometimes things are not what they seem, these snowy places fascinate us a lot, but we have no idea how difficult life will be for the people living there.
In some places, in the winter of just two-three months, if the temperature drops slightly less, then people start frightening as if snow has fallen at their houses. But there are some cities in the world where people often crave for the sun. Now let us leave all these things and talk about the coldest city in the world, the place where the temperature sometimes drops below -70 ° C. Yes, you heard exactly right, a city where there is only snow all around, where everything freezes, but have you ever imagined how people would live there? How do they manage to go somewhere or do their day-to-day work?
A small village in the Oymyakonsky District of the Sakha Republic in Russia, known as Oymyakon, is counted as one of the most dangerous places in the world due to its extreme climatic conditions. This place is also called the Northern Pole of Cold. It is very difficult, or perhaps even impossible, for human life to survive here due to extremely cold temperatures. The average winter temperature here drops to minus 50 degrees Celsius, so it is absolutely not safe for any tourist or traveler to visit this place, as one cannot escape this harsh cold temperature. The village's lowest recorded temperature claims to be a frigid minus 71.2 Celsius back in 1924.
The place is named after the Oymyakon River and the name is unique in itself and that is because Oymyakon in local language means an unfrozen patch of water, a place where fish spend the winter. Because that part of water never freezes, but watch the game of nature, the condition of this village is such that not only water but even human can freeze here and due to these conditions the life of the people here is very difficult.
Here, when people come out of their houses, the snow accumulates on their faces. People wear six to seven layers of clothes and the winter life here is so difficult that even running and jogging, and performing normal work require great courage and even a little carelessness can put lives at risk. In the winter season, people here experience only three hours of daylight, but yes, in the summer, they can experience up to 21 hours of daylight.
Here all the houses are made out of wood because no other material is of any use here, and the toilets are made out of the houses because indoor plumbing is not possible here. Surprisingly, wet clothes can be dried here in few seconds, because when wet clothes are dried outside, due to the low temperature, their water takes the form of ice in a few seconds and then that dry snow can be removed and clothes can be used for wearing. Here, everything from rivers to trees always remain frozen. Neither any machine remains in workable condition nor any car. To start the car, it has to be kept in the heated garage.
