You may have heard many facts about ghosts, but have you ever seen ghosts in reality or perhaps you can ask many questions about their existence such as what their desires are and where they came from. Today, while the world has achieved so much progress in the field of science, superstition has also taken many places under its influence. But in the name of faith, superstition can sometimes prove to be fatal. Similar superstition is being seen in the Bechu Bir fair of Mirzapur, where the sound of screaming is heard everywhere. A three-day Bechubir Fair is held once a year, after Diwali on Ekadashi day in a small village named Barhi in the Mirzapur city of Uttar Pradesh. During the three-day fair, the entire village is thronged by a crowd of about four lakh. There are strange sounds of crying, screaming, shouting all around the deserted fields of the village, and thousands of clothes are lying on the banks of a small nearby Bakshi river, which no one has to touch.
Actually, before reaching the samadhi site of Bechubir baba and his wife Barahi Mata in this fair, the body has to be bathed in this river and sanctified. After this, two kilometers reach the samadhi site of Bechubir baba, the view here is even more strange, people were lying in the dust in the fields. At the same time, thousands of women in the fields were jumping in a strange manner by unwrapping their hair, and some were crying loudly and seemed to be reciting their grief through songs. Looking at them it seemed as if there is someone else who is controlling their bodies. The thin and sick young men seemed to have so much power that even if they were caught by two or four people, they would not be in control. But as soon as they reached close to Bechubir Samadhi they used to sit sluggishly.
There is another samadhi site at a distance of 500 meters from Bechubir Samadhi, which people worship by the name of Bechubir's wife Barhi Mata. The view here is also similar to the first site. People call Barhi Mata even powerful than Bechu Bir Baba. People believed that the ghosts who are more stubborn, leave the person's body, and flee as soon as they come closer to Barhi Mata samadhi. Victims are forced to sit here because as soon as a woman or man is seen suffering from ghosts, they try to run away, as they do not want to come near the samadhi. The family members or nearby people have to hold them tightly to sit there. If we see, the atmosphere here is full of superstition, but looking at the faith of the people, a question arises in the mind, after all, there is some reason that people from every corner of the country come here. Not only illiterate but also literate people visit this fair. At present, in this unique fair in modern times, where superstition is seen on one side, some people are seeing it on the other side by associating it with faith. People from all over the country come to this place to fulfill their wishes, which is more than three hundred years old.
