The City of Arts and Sciences is a unique complex that allows you to travel in the world of science and its impressive modern architecture. This beautiful cultural and architectural complex is set in an expansive area of just under two kilometers in the dry river bed of the now diverted River Turia in Valencia, Spain. This gorgeous looking complex is one of the most striking features of the city of Valencia that has a seemingly endless capacity for entertaining and stimulating the mind. Among these buildings, the most important structures are: L'Hemisferic — Imax Cinema, Planetarium and Laserium; Museu de les Ciencies PrÃncipe Felipe — Science museum; L'Umbracle — Walkway / Garden; L'Oceanografic — an open-air aquarium or oceanographic park; Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia — Opera house and performing arts centre; and L'Agora — a covered plaza in which concerts and sporting events are held. There is so much to see and do inside, but if you have a little shortage of time, then you will need to plan your visit carefully to get entertained by every little corner of the complex.

Eleven months later, Museu de les Ciencies PrÃncipe Felipe was inaugurated, although the museum was not yet finished. The museum was opened to the public twenty months later. The L'Oceanografic, the largest aquarium built in Europe was opened on 12 December 2002. And the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia was opened on 8 October 2005.

Hemisferic
It is the centerpiece of the City of Arts and Sciences and has the shape of an eye. It was the first building completed in 1998, and it is also known as the ‘eye of the city. It is an audio-visual space featuring an IMAX cinema (over a 900 square meters of screen), and planetarium. Here several films are screened daily, mainly educational documentaries of no more than 45 minutes that are suitable for all audiences. The planetarium is a half-sphere composed of concrete 110 meters long and 55.5 meters wide.
Museu de les Ciencies PrÃncipe Felipe
This beautiful building structure resembles the skeleton of a whale which is actually an interactive museum of science. It offers different interactive exhibitions about science and technology. The building has three floors, of which 26,000 square meters is exhibition space. This building is basically built for learning science through experience, so everything is graphically displayed.
L'Umbracle
The Umbracle was designed as an entrance to the City of Arts and Sciences and also the perfect vantage point for taking photos. It is a huge, open-access landscaped walk with various plant species all around. The garden includes 99 palm trees, 78 small palm trees, and 62 bitter orange trees. The plants displayed were carefully picked to change color with each season. The Umbracle is also home to numerous free-standing sculptures surrounded by nature.L'Oceanografic
It is the largest oceanographic aquarium in Europe and no trip to Valencia is complete without visiting the Oceanografic. It was built in the shape of a water lily. With seven different marine environments, the aquarium is home to over 500 different species, such as dolphins, belugas, turtles, walruses, sea lions, seals, penguins, sharks, jellyfish, and starfish.
Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia
If you are a music lover then this is the place that will suit you the best in the City of Arts and Sciences. Because it is an opera house and performing arts center dedicated to music and the performing arts. It holds many events such as opera, theatre, and music in its auditoriums. Measuring over 70 meters in height, the Palau de Les Arts is divided into four sections: the main hall, the master hall, the auditorium, and the Martin y Soler theatre.
L'Agora
The Agora is a versatile venue that hosts a wide variety of events and it is also the most recent building at the City of Arts and Sciences. it holds a variety of events such as concerts, exhibitions, conventions, performances, and international sports meetings.
