It is the world’s largest monolith statue, which measures 73.5 meters in length, 19.3 meters in width and 20.22 meters in height. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafre, who was an ancient Egyptian king of the 4th dynasty during the Old Kingdom. It is believed that this monument has been built by the ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafre. According to some estimates, the tools used by the workers were copper chisels and stone hammers, and it would have taken about three years for 100 workers to finish the statue. But now this beautiful statue has greatly deteriorated over the years. There are several attempts have been made to preserve the statue. While the body has suffered the most erosion, the face has also been damaged, and its nose is notably missing.

If you look closely at the surface of the Sphinx, then you will find paint marks on it. It is believed that the body and face of the Sphinx were painted red. And there was a yellow sheen on the headdress and a blue coat on the beard. The Great Sphinx has been positioned in such a way that it faces the east where the sun rises. Some studies show that the Great Sphinx was supposed to be built even bigger than it currently is, but the workers left the work in a hurry. This is being said because archaeologists found large stone blocks there, which were left behind without being processed.

Along with Sphinx, the Plateau of Giza also includes the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, an industrial complex, a workers village, and several cemeteries. Giza's Sphinx and surrounding monuments still have many big secrets, yet one thing has remained the same for centuries and that is the beauty of these unsurpassed and beautiful structures, which is amazing.
