Who doesn't like to travel and that also at such a place where the surroundings will surprise you with its amazing panoramic views. There is such a place in Brazil named Sugarloaf Mountain that will give you the amazing experience of stunning views of the city from the top of this peak. This beautiful peak is situated at the mouth of Guanabara Bay in the state of Rio de Janeiro in southeastern Brazil. It is famous for its best cable car ride around the world. The height of sugarloaf peak is 396 m or 1,299 ft. Its name sugarloaf has been given for its amazing shape which is in resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined loaf sugar.
This beautiful landmark has been become a part of World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 2012. This mountain is one of several monolithic granite and quartz mountains that rise straight from the water's edge around Rio de Janeiro. A cable car is must needed for you to move to the top of the peak. The cable car runs from a ground station, at the base of Morro da Babilonia, to Morro da Urca and thence to Sugarloaf's summit. The passengers have to take two cable cars to reach the summit. The first car takes you to the shorter Morro da Urca which is 220 m high and the second car takes to Pao de Acucar. The passengers enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding city through the amazing swiss-made bubble shaped cars. The cable car with a glass wall has the capability to hold 65 people at once. The first cable car line was introduced in 1912 and which was again rebuilt around 1972-73 and in 2008.
Rock climbing is a great option for visitors on Sugarloaf. The other two mountains in the area Morro da Babilonia and Morro da Urca are also popular for rock climbing. Together, they make one of the world's largest urban climbing areas. To enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding beaches, mountains and forests, more than one lakh tourists visit Sugarloaf every year which makes it one of the most visited areas in Rio de Janeiro.
