Dolomites are one of the most magnificent and charming locations on earth. We simply can define this place as the impressiveness of nature. The most beautiful landscapes all around this location are just showing awesomeness in themselves. The Dolomites are actually a beautiful mountain range which is surrounded by gorgeous views of nature. This mountain range is located in northeastern Italy. They form a part of the Southern Limestone Alps and extend from the River Adige in the west to the Piave Valley in the east. The Dolomites are nearly equally shared between the provinces of Belluno, South Tyrol and Trentino. There are many regional parks are located in the Dolomites. It also includes Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, which is a national park in the province of Belluno, Veneto, in the northern Italy. The main centres include: Rocca Pietore alongside the Marmolada Glacier, which lies on the border of Trentino and Veneto.
The two borders, northern and southern are defined by the Puster Valley and the Sugana Valley. The Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in August 2009. The Dolomites are also known as the "Pale Mountains" which take their name from the carbonate rock dolomite. The region is commonly divided into the Western and Eastern Dolomites, separated by a line following the Val Badia - Campolongo Pass - Cordevole Valley axis.
During the First World War, the front line between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces ran through the Dolomites, where mines were used extensively. There are now open-air war museums at Cinque Torri (Five Towers) and Mount Lagazuoi. Many people visit the Dolomites to climb the vie ferrate, protected paths created during the war.
