Notre Dame Cathedral (Notre-Dame de Paris)

Every year millions of tourists observe the beautiful architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral. However, some people suspect that more number of tourists is becoming a danger to it. Notre-Dame Cathedral is also known as Notre-Dame de Paris or simply Notre-Dame. It is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. On seeing this famous cathedral from the front, it does not seem to have any kind of structural problem. Its front part was cleaned in the 1990's and its condition looked good at first sight. The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, and it is among the largest and best-known church buildings in the Catholic Church in France, and in the world. The popularity of this cathedral is more than the Eiffel Tower. In the 1790s, Notre-Dame suffered desecration in the radical phase of the French Revolution when much of its religious imagery was damaged or destroyed. An extensive restoration supervised by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc began in 1845. A project of further restoration and maintenance began in 1991. The renovation of the front of the cathedral has hidden the problems of the rest to some extent. Sections like designs, such as the stones in the design have affected by the weather and air pollution, and a part of it has fallen while some parts have been raised with support from the temporary construction. Due to the special design and architecture of the cathedral, its renovation is more complex. The Notre Dame cathedral is more than 850 years old and its foundation was laid in the 12th century. Millions of tourists visit Paris every year to observe the beauty of the Church of Notre Dame Church. Its popularity is known by this fact that more number of people come to see this church every year than the Eiffel Tower. Notre-Dame is the most visited monument in Paris with about 13 million visitors every year, beating out the Eiffel Tower. Notre Dame Cathedral is open daily from 8 am to 6:45 pm and 7:15 pm on weekends. Entrance into the church is free. However, there is a charge for visiting the towers or the 'Tresors' the collection of relics.
