Have you ever heard about an underground town? Today, where the whole world is engaged in finding life on planet Mars, there is a village in this world where people live under the land. The special thing is that this village has all the facilities that you cannot even imagine. The name of this village is Coober Pedy, which is located 100 feet below ground in Australia. Coober Pedy is a town in northern South Australia, 846 km north of Adelaide on the Stuart Highway. The specialty of this place is that people here live in underground houses. The town is sometimes referred to as the "opal capital of the world" because of the quantity of precious opals that are mined there. Opal is a hydrated amorphous form of silica. The first opal was found in Coober Pedy on 1 February 1915, since then the town has been supplying most of the world's gem-quality opal. Coober Pedy has over 70 opal fields and is the largest opal mining area in the world. If you ever go to this village, you will not see anything except soil pile and barren land. It is likely that there is nothing like village or population here, but there are tunnels between those clay piles which will take you to the streets of the Cooper Pedy and then the sight that will appear in front of you will blow your senses. The houses in Coober Pedy look ordinary from outside, but when you go inside you will be amazed by seeing the beauty of it. The work of mining started here in 1915. Coober Pedy is a desert area, so here in the summer the temperature is very high and in winter it becomes very cold, because of this, people living here had to face a lot of trouble. Due to which the people were shifted to the remaining quarries after mining. In these houses, there is no need of A.C in summer and no need of heater in winter. Today, there are around 1500 houses in which the entire population of the Coober Pedy lives. Coober Pedy is renowned for its below-ground residences, called "dugouts". In this Underground town, a population of 3500 people lives in luxurious houses, which has all amenities. From hotel to swimming pool, spa and luxury life with everything you cannot even imagine, you can find here.
