Death is the most bitter truth in everyone's life because everyone has to face this truth at somewhere in his life. But no one knows how and when death will come in their way. Under what circumstances you will die, no one knows, only God knows it. But if we tell you that there is a place where people are not allowed to die, then how will you react on it? Longyearbyen is the largest settlement and the administrative centre of Svalbard in Norway. It is a place where there is a population of around 2000 people and most of them are either researchers or tourists. Because there is a freezing cold in this area. This is the only city in Svalbard Island where people live in spite of freezing cold. Also known as Longyear city, this Arctic Town was established by American John Munro Longyear. This city was named after John Munro Longyear. In 1906 he started Arctic Coal Company and 500 people were brought for Mining Operation. Operations were taken over by Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani (SNSK) in 1916, which still conducts mining. The town was almost completely destroyed by the German Kriegsmarine on 8 August 1943, but was rebuilt after the Second World War. The Longyear was a company town, but most of the mining operations were shifted to Sveagruva since the 1990s. Now this town has become a big tourist point and a large number of research work is also being done here. Longyearbyen experiences midnight sun from 19 April to 23 August, polar night from 27 October to 14 February and civil polar night from 14 November to 29 January. However, due to shading from mountains, the sun is not visible in Longyearbyen until around 8 March. Snow typically covers the town from November to March. There are no names for roads and they are known by numbers. Only snow scooters are used for transport. There is danger of polar bears all the time. Here the population of polar beers is close to 3000. From fear of them everyone out of the house will be seen with a rifle. However, here the rifle is not allowed inside the house or office.
Against the laws of nature in Longyearbyen, the administration has banned death. In the winter season, the temperature becomes so low that life becomes very difficult. People are not allowed to die here. This is the reason why there has not been any death for the last 70 years. There is a very small cemetery in this city but no one has been buried here in the last 70 years. The ban on this island had been imposed because it is so cold. Because of which the dead bodies remained as such for years. Because of the cold they neither melt nor rot. The dead bodies can not be destroyed for years. According to the information, in 1917, the person whose death was caused by influenza, the virus of Influenza was still present in his dead body due to so much snow around here. Thereby, the fear of spreading the disease was increased. After this the administration banned death in this city. Now the person who is going to die or there is an emergency, the person is taken by a helicopter to another area of the country, where his funeral is done right after death.
