There are many places on our earth where it is very difficult for humans to survive. But today we will tell you about Ramree Island located on the coast of Myanmar. Ramree Island is an island off the coast of Rakhine State, Burma. The area of the island is about 1,350 square kilometres and the main populated center is Ramree. Well, there are many dangerous places in the world, but traveling to Ramree Island is not the case for everyone, because the death keeps you chasing at every step. The name of Ramrey Island is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as a place where the animals have caused the greatest damage to humans. And this rating was achieved due to an incident happened in 1945, in which about 1000 Japanese soldiers became victims of large saltwater crocodiles here. Although the saltwater crocodiles, mosquitoes and toxic scorpions are ruled over this island, but the most dangerous of these is saltwater crocodile. This crocodile can be up to 20 feet long and weighing up to 2000 lbs. It is impossible for the survival of any person after coming into their possession. During World War 2 the Battle of Ramree Island was fought during January and February 1945, as part of the British 14th Army 1944/45 offensive on the Southern Front of the Burma Campaign. On January 26, 1945, the British soldiers strongly attacked Japanese troops to capture Ramree Island. Japanese soldiers could not face them for long. Hundreds of Japanese soldiers were killed in this fight, and nearly 1,000 soldiers survived, they went to inner parts of Ramree Island to save their lives. At the close of the battle, Japanese soldiers were forced into the marshes surrounding the island and saltwater crocodiles are claimed to have eaten them. In Guinness World Records, it is listed as "The Greatest Disaster Suffered by humans from Animals". Only 20 soldiers from inside the swamp could escape and others became food for all the crocodiles.
Bruce Stanley Wright who participated in that battle, wrote a book "Wildlife Sketches Near and Far" on that incident. In this book, he has described the horrific events that how the crocodiles had captured the soldiers in their big jaws and the whole atmosphere of the island was fierce with the voices of the soldiers, the sounds of gunfire and the horrible voices of crocodiles. That night was the most horrible that any member of the M.L. [marine launch] crews ever experienced. Still, these saltwater crocodiles have the full control over Ramree Island and they are so dangerous that they eat anything that comes in their area, even to humans.
