There are many wonderful temples of Lord Shiva in India. One of them is the Bijli Mahadev at Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. This temple is located at an altitude of about 2,460m in the Kullu Valley. Bijli Mahadev is one of India's most famous and exciting temples. Bijli Mahadev Temple is situated near the river Beas. This temple is 14 kilometers away from Kullu, across the Beas River. It is a popular pilgrimage site of Kullu, near Manali. The complete history of Kullu is connected to Mahadev. This place is dedicated to Lord Shiva (God of Destruction). According to local belief, 'Shivalinga' symbolizing the idol of Lord Shiva, placed inside the temple, was broken in many pieces due to lightning. Later, the priests of the temple collected pieces and added them back with the help of butter. Traveling to this temple is a difficult climbing road for tourists. Beautiful scenes of Parvati and Kullu valleys can be seen from the temple. In entire Kullu Valley, It is believed that this valley is a form of a giant snake. This snake was killed by Lord Shiva. At the place, where there is a temple, there falls a terrible lightning in every twelve years on Shivlinga. Shivalinga of the temple breaks down due to lightning. The priests here collect pieces of broken shivalinga and add it with the help of butter. After a few months, Shivling changes into a solid form.
Every year there are crowds of devotees at the time of Shivratri, so they also worship Lord Shiva together. The statue of Mahadev 60 feet high, in the temple shines like sun. In this temple of illumination, it is said that the high statue reflects its blessings only through light. This temple was given the name of Bijli Mahadev due to frequent falling of lightning in the temple. At the entrance of Bijli Mahadev Temple, there is a beautiful artwork of Nandi. Lord Shiva did not want to harm anyone by the falling of this lightning. Therefore, to save people, Shiva crashes this lightning on himself. that's why this temple is known as Bijli Mahadev Temple. From the peak of the temple you can see Parvati valley and spectacular views of the Kullu valley. Whenever you look back from the peak you will not see any higher peak than you. If you want to stay there, then take the necessary things with you while climbing. There are also some shops of the local people but they will not be enough for you.
